Every great cook knows that precision and confidence with a knife are the fundamental building blocks of exceptional cooking. This class is designed specifically to sharpen your abilities and demystify the most important tool in your kitchen.

Under Chef Melissa’s expert guidance, you will learn the “insider secrets” to working more efficiently and safely. We’ll move beyond the basics, teaching you the mechanics of the perfect slice, dice, and julienne. You will put your new skills to immediate use in our professional kitchen, gaining the muscle memory needed to elevate your home meal prep from a chore to a craft.

What You Will Learn:

Proper Knife Techniques: Gain confidence by learning the correct grip and handling for maximum control and safety.

Essential Cuts: Practice over 10 foundational cuts, including chiffonade, dice, and julienne.

Knife Selection & Care: Discover how to choose the right blade for any task and learn professional methods for sharpening, cleaning, and storage.

The Right Surface: Understand the differences between wood, plastic, and composite cutting boards to protect your blades.

Student Note: We provide all necessary knives, but you are welcome to bring your own chef’s knife to practice with a familiar tool. A light meal will be served during class, with gluten-free and vegetarian options available.

We do not allow groups larger than six to book in public classes. Please complete the private events form to inquire about a custom experience for your group.
